Every third Thursday of November, just a few weeks after the grapes have been harvested, France celebrates Beaujolais Nouveau Day! Parties are held throughout the country to celebrate the first wine of the season. Nouveau, fresh and fruity in flavor, is the result of a quick fermentation process called Carbonic Maceration and is meant to be drunk young.
Our Beaujolais Nouveau this year is produced by Jean Foillard--an old-school wine-maker who believes in never using synthetic herbicides or pesticides, harvesting late, rigorously sorting to remove all but the healthiest grapes, adding minimal doses of sulfur dioxide, and refusing filtration. The result allows the terroir to express itself naturally and show its true beauty.
Foillard's Beaujolais Nouveau is made from vines that are 40-60 years old. This is a SUPER natural, light, fun and lavishly fruitful wine that we have a small amount of - so help us celebrate with a glass (or bottle)!
